EACOP’s National Content Regional Engagements (Uganda)

The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project has taken significant steps to empower Ugandan businesses and communities by launching a series of National content Regional Engagements from the 18th to 23rd November 2024 . These sessions, were held in key districts along the pipeline route—Hoima, Kakumiro, Mubende, Sembabule, and Kyotera and served as a platforms to connect local businesses with opportunities within the EACOP project.

The six-day initiative attracted over 4,147 participants, 45% of whom were women. Participants had the chance to learn about the project’s procurement processes, scope, and specific supplier requirements. Representatives from EACOP, key contractors China Petroleum Pipeline (CPP) and Africa Global Logistics (AGL), the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC), and the Petroleum Authority of Uganda shared insights and addressed questions from attendees on how to get involved as suppliers or job seekers within the project.

This initiative reflected EACOP’s commitment to promoting local content and fostering partnerships that strengthen Uganda’s economic growth. By enabling local businesses to contribute to the pipeline’s development.

EACOP’s focus on national content is part of its broader strategy to create sustainable economic opportunities for Ugandans. By equipping local suppliers and industries with the tools to thrive, the project has positioned itself as a transformative force in Uganda’s energy and business landscapes.

This engagement marks a pivotal moment for communities along the pipeline route, fostering hope and readiness to tap into the vast opportunities presented by the EACOP project.
