EACOP Students’ Conference: Inspiring the Future of Energy at the University of Dodoma
On Saturday, 23rd November 2024, the East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project, in partnership with The University of Dodoma and Empower Limited, successfully hosted the EACOP Students’ Conference at the CIVE Lecture Room B (LRB 106). Themed “The Role of Youth in the Energy Sector and its Transition in Africa,” the event aimed to connect academia with the energy industry, inspiring young minds to take an active role in shaping Africa’s energy future.
Hon. John Ulanga, Ambassador and Director of International Trade and Economic Diplomacy, delivered a powerful masterclass on energy transition and its significance for Africa’s development. His keynote address emphasized the critical role of youth as drivers of innovation and progress in the continent’s evolving energy landscape.
EACOP Managing Director, Mr. Guillaume Dulout, also addressed the students, providing an update on the project’s progress and highlighting its benefits for Tanzania. He encouraged students to explore the abundant opportunities in the energy sector and to consider careers in this dynamic field.
Another highlight of the event was the inspiring testimonials from two EACOP Academy trainees, both graduates of the University of Dodoma. They shared their experiences from training programs at Arusha Technical College and their continued journey at VETA Moshi, showcasing the transformative impact of determination and access to quality education.
The conference brought together students from diverse disciplines, energy experts, and key stakeholders, creating a platform for meaningful discussions on energy transition, ongoing projects like EACOP, and career opportunities in the sector. Participants gained practical insights and were encouraged to see themselves as integral to the future of energy in Tanzania and Africa.
EACOP is proud to continue its commitment to empowering young talent through events like this. The project aims to promote a generation of skilled, ambitious professionals ready to drive Africa’s energy transition forward.
This successful event reflects EACOP’s dedication to engaging with youth and stakeholders, and building a sustainable energy future for Tanzania and beyond.
