EACOP Signs MOU with Kabajjo Memorial School in Sembabule District

The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) Ltd, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Kabajjo Memorial Junior School, located in Sembabule District. Kabajjo Memorial School aims at uplifting the mindset of the learners in Sembabule District by embracing and improving the standards of education in the district. The school has a total of 300 learners, 174 of these pupils are from at least 6 villages impacted by the East African Crude Oil Pipeline Project. EACOP will construct a new classroom block, as in – kind compensation opted for by the school to replace the existing block that was affected by the project as indicated in the Compensation Agreement between the school and EACOP.

According to the MOU, EACOP will also construct an additional classroom block, which includes a staffroom for the teachers, library, a kitchen, a water tank to help improve the water and sanitation needs of the learners, a shade to act as both a dining facility and recreational area and new toilet facilities for boys and girls. A changing room for the girls will also be constructed in compliance with the national / Ministry of Education strategy on menstrual health hygiene management. The construction of these facilities is intended to support Kabajjo Memorial Junior School to provide a conducive learning environment and welfare of the learners, teachers, and non-teaching staff of the school.

We are committed to ensuring that the health, safety and welfare of communities, workers and the environment are addressed and managed throughout the planning, construction, and operation phases. of the Project.
