EACOP PARTICIPATES IN THE INDUSTRY ACADEMIA EXCHANGE WORKSHOP IN MAKERERE UNIVERSITY
On Wednesday 16th April 2025, the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) Ltd participated in the Industry Academia Exchange (IAE) workshop held at the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology at Makerere University.
The activity brought together industry players, stakeholders from the School of Engineering academic leadership, and the departments of Civil & Environmental, Computer & Communications, and Mechanical Engineering.
The workshop, based on the theme, “Strengthening Collaboration for Skills Development and Innovation,” aimed at encouraging useful dialogue on how academia and industry can build deeper cooperation to ensure the development and nurturing of relevant skills for Engineering graduates and talent.
Speaking at the event, Natasha Kassami, EACOP’s National Content Capacity Building Lead highlighted the key skills and knowledge gaps that later influenced the formation of Upstream and Midstream National Content policies and regulations. “There are ongoing efforts by EACOP and its contractors to build capacity through the Graduate Training Programme, and the Train the Trainer Initiative, which equips academic staff with exposure to industry-standard equipment, technologies, and best practices,” she said.
