EACOP HOSTS UGANDA REVENUE AUTHORITY AND KPMG FOR SITE VISIT
On 17th December 2024, the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) hosted a team from the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) and representatives from the global accounting firm KPMG at its Main Camp and Pumping Station 1 (MCP1) site. The purpose of the visit was to provide the URA and KPMG teams with an in-depth look at the ongoing activities and progress of the EACOP project.
During the site visit, the URA and KPMG representatives were taken through the various components of the EACOP project. They were able to see the specialized equipment being stored on-site, as well as the pipes being strung and laid as part of the pipeline construction. “This visit was an important opportunity for the URA and KPMG teams to witness firsthand the scale and complexity of the EACOP project,” said Hadi WATFA, EACOP’s Company Site Representative for LOT 1. “By seeing the equipment and infrastructure in person, they were able to better understand the intricacies involved in delivering this significant energy project.”
The site visit allowed the URA and KPMG representatives to gain a deeper understanding of the logistics, technical requirements, and ongoing activities associated with the EACOP project. This knowledge will be valuable as they continue to work with EACOP and support the overall development of the oil and gas industry in the region. “We are grateful to EACOP for hosting us and providing us with this unique opportunity to see the project in action,” said Joel Kuka Mudumi, Regional Manager, URA Midwest region. “This firsthand experience will be invaluable as we work to ensure the proper regulatory and financial frameworks are in place to support the success of the EACOP project and the broader oil and gas industry.”
The EACOP project is a significant undertaking that will play a crucial role in the economic development of Uganda and Tanzania. The site visit demonstrates EACOP’s commitment to transparency and collaboration with key stakeholders as the project continues to progress.
