EACOP PARTICIPATES IN THE 6TH SDG RUN – STRENGTHENING PARTNERSHIPS FOR SUSTAINABILITY

On Sunday, December 1, 2024, the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) proudly joined participants in the 6th Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Run, a 17-kilometer run held under the theme Partnerships for the Goals.” The run, which attracted diverse stakeholders and community members, was a powerful platform to showcase the importance of collective action in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The participation of EACOP in this year’s SDG Run aligns with the company’s commitment to ensuring sustainable development across its areas of operation. During the run, EACOP was ably led by our Deputy Managing Director John B. Habumugisha, who emphasized the company’s dedication to meaningful environmental and community-driven initiatives. Speaking after the run, He noted: “This event highlights the critical importance of partnerships in achieving sustainable development. EACOP remains committed to contributing to environmental conservation and uplifting communities through targeted initiatives that align with the SDGs.”

Earlier, at the press briefing on November 26, 2024, Our Deputy MD JB. Habumugisha reaffirmed EACOP’s alignment with the SDGs and handed over a symbolic cheque of $5,000 to the Patron of the SDG Run, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, who is the 1st Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Affairs. The contribution will support the establishment of regional tree nurseries aimed at growing 20 million indigenous trees for reforestation.
