EACOP LAUNCHES WELDER TRAINING PROGRAM

East African Crude pipeline (EACOP) Ltd together with their Tier 1 main contractor for Above ground installation and Pipeline construction, China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co. Ltd. (CPP) marks a significant milestone by launching the inaugural ceremony for the Welder Training Program.

This initiative is a cornerstone of EACOP’s commitment to enhancing national content and building local capacity in Uganda. Central to its mission is fulfilling its National Content commitments, which include boosting the skills of the local workforce and providing employment opportunities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. John Bosco Habumugisha, EACOP Ltd Deputy Managing Director said, “This event is evidence of EACOP’s dedication to fostering sustainable development and creating meaningful opportunities for local talent.”

Mr. Zhang Haitao, the CPP National Content Manager, also added, “This timely initiative prepares Ugandans to take upcoming opportunities in welding at the Above Ground installations (AGI) and Pipeline construction that are ramping up.”

The Welder Training Program represents a key component of the company’s broader capacity-building efforts. It is designed to equip Ugandans with the advanced skills necessary for the EACOP project and beyond. Graduates of this program will not only gain valuable expertise but will also be absorbed by the companies working on the EACOP project.
