In a bid to foster understanding and collaboration within Uganda’s energy sector, the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) organized a three-day field excursion to the Albertine Graben from the 2nd to the 5th of April 2024. This educational venture welcomed distinguished officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and esteemed foreign missions.
The Minister for Energy and Mineral Development, Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu, flagged off another delegation With a total of 80 participants consisting of officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Uganda’s Foreign Missions, Petroleum Authority of Uganda, and members of the House of Bishops, comprising Ugandan ambassadors stationed across key countries like the United Arab Emirates, China, Tanzania, and France.
During their journey, The team visited several oil and gas operational including EACOP’s Pumping Station 1 (PS 1), the vital starting point of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), the EACOP route, pump stations, main camps, pipe yards (MCPYs), livelihood restoration activities, and replacement housing, EACOP Pump Station 1, Main Camp, Pipe Yard (MCPY) 1 in Kakumiro, and Livelihood Restoration Activities Replacement Houses, Here, they were graciously briefed by our Deputy Managing Director, JB Habumugisha, who provided valuable insights into PS 1’s role and highlighted the progress of above-ground installations.
