Strengthening Collaborations: EACOP Quarterly Meetings with NGOs

In an effort to strengthen collaboration and transparency, the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) holds quarterly meetings both in Dar es Salaam and online, inviting Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) from across Tanzania to participate. These meetings serve as crucial forums for stakeholders to come together and engage in meaningful dialogue.

The primary objective of these gatherings is to provide regular updates on the project’s progress, covering a wide spectrum of technical and social issues. EACOP offers a platform for addressing concerns, answering queries, and collecting valuable opinions from stakeholders.

During the most recent meeting held on March 19th, 2024, participants discussed updates on various aspects of the project, including project overview, local content, environmental updates, Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) implementation, human rights, project-induced in-migration (PIIM), stakeholder engagement, and grievance management.

The meeting was attended by representatives from 25 NGOs, whose contributions were instrumental in facilitating productive discussions. These quarterly meetings underscore EACOP’s commitment to stakeholder engagement and its dedication to addressing the concerns and interests of the communities involved. By fostering open dialogue and collaboration, EACOP aims to build trust, enhance transparency, and ensure the successful implementation of the project.
