EAST AFRICAN CRUDE OIL PIPELINE (EACOP) Ltd. TANZANIA FORMALLY SIGNS MOU WITH ARUSHA TECHNICAL COLLEGE AND VETA MOSHI

In line with EACOP’s commitments on Local Content and specifically on reaching youth along the pipeline operation areas, EACOP developed a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) in Tanzania. The objective of this program was to first provide the Tanzanian youth with knowledge and skills relevant for the Oil & Gas sector and to identify and select the best candidates with the potential to be among the future operators and maintenance technicians of EACOP during its operational phase in 2025.

To further enhance the training and development of selected trainees, EACOP established strategic partnerships with Arusha Technical College and VETA Moshi. These esteemed institutions have been carefully chosen to provide specific training for future operations personnel of EACOP. The forthcoming Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing solidifies this collaborative effort, ensuring a seamless transition for the selected young Tanzanian candidates as they progress beyond the MOOC TZ phase.

Martin Tiffen, the Managing Director of EACOP, expressed his enthusiasm for the launch of the EACOP MOOC, together with the MOU signing and emphasized the pivotal role it plays in shaping the company’s future operations. He stated, “The EACOP MOOC TZ offers a unique opportunity for young Tanzanians to join EACOP and make significant contributions to our mission.”

In conjunction with the MOOC’s successful debut, Laurent Stephane, the Recruitment and Training Manager, shared his excitement about the imminent MOU signing with Arusha Technical College and Moshi VETA and highlighted MOOC results summary. He declared, “We are thrilled to have reached this milestone of the EACOP MOOC and to establish strategic partnerships with key institutions in the country. This achievement marks a significant advancement in our endeavor to identify and cultivate the next generation of talent in the Oil & Gas midstream sector.”
