EACOP Managing Director, at MPGS Oil and Gas symposium at Makerere University in Kampala
Matin TIFFEN, The Managing Director, East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) Ltd, on Friday 14th October 2022 addressed the student community at a symposium organized by the Makerere University Petroleum and Geology Society (MPGS. The symposium which brough together, TotalEnergies, government institutions including Uganda National Oil Company 9/UNOC) Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU), and The National Environmental Management Authority NEMA, as well as EACOP, provided a platform for students to acquire pertinent information on Uganda’s oil and gas sector in Uganda.
Speaking at the symposium, Martin highlighted the technical, environmental, and social aspects of the EACOP, and the significance of the project to the people and the economy of both Uganda and Tanzania.
He emphasized that the EACOP pipeline route and the location of the associated facilities were selected during a multi-year process based on comprehensive feasibility studies aiming at avoiding environmentally and socially sensitive areas and areas of high population density.
